Rusk County "Know Alcohol" Program

UNDERAGE ALCOHOL VIOLATIONS

 

As a result of an underage alcohol violation, you have been issued a citation. The citation tells you when and where you must appear in court. If you are found guilty, a forfeiture will be imposed and you driver’s license will be suspended. If you don’t have a driver’s license, the suspension will take place when you apply to get your license. 

HOW CAN YOU KEEP YOUR LICENSE?

If your driver’s license is important enough to you, there is something you can do to keep it or, reduce the length of suspension. Rusk County DHHS offers the Rusk  Restorative Youth Program "Know Alcohol" program. To take advantage of the program, you must do the following:

1. Go to the Rusk County Department of Health and Human Services (RCDHHS), second floor of the Rusk County Government Center (311 Miner Ave E, Ladysmith, WI) and pick up a registration form.
2. Appear in court on the date and time noted on your citation with the completed registration form. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must accompany you.
3. Enter a plea of guilty or no contest to the charge and request to take the "Know Alcohol" program. You must plead guilty or no contest to the charge to take advantage of the program and save your license!
4. If you are eligible for the program, the Judge may give you the option of taking the program if you have met all the requirements and if you brought the completed registration form with you.

If this is your first alcohol offense, the course will allow you to avoid a driver’s license suspension.

Community Service is not available for underage alcohol violators!
